What a busy, lazy and refreshing holiday week. We got plenty of Mikko and Gini’s wedding invitations done and sewed a pile of cute little pouches for rice. I also spent some quality time with Gini continuing with the pouches and enjoying some very nice cheeses and “accessories” .

A colleague and friend from work suffered a cerebral infarction but is recovering well. I was scared and worried but was so happy today to hear he’s relatively well.

In SCA Pehr and I were named the next Baron and Baroness of Aarnimetsä. It makes me feel enthusiastic. Although with so many things going on this summer, rather glad that the end of August is still some time away.

Now I’m catching up at work and adjusting to the new plans due to the workmate being on the long sick-leave. It doesn’t look overly gloomy.

One day at a time.

Seems like I’m doing a lot of backlogging these days O.o

The weekend went well despite the tight schedule. On Sat morning we went to Dugi’s graduation function and were bored to tears by a half-an-hour-full-of-crap-in-a-monotonous-voice-speech but kept sane by a couple of other less horrible speeches and nice music. I was happy to see Murre get a stipend ^_^ but somewhat disappointed that Dugi didn’t — they had actually been suggested together. Oh well, I told Dugi not to be upset, for getting a stipend might have meant that somebody there thought he agrees with their politics… ^_^ In any case, it was great seeing Murre and Jarkko there.

Next we rushed to Helsinki to a nice little SCA event (I was actually surprised there weren’t more people present, I would’ve thought that a collegium type event might draw people from outside Hukka, too), gave our own lecture on “heraldry from middle ages to SCA” that went rather well (yes, I was prepared at that point although was thrown a bit off balance since I had thought to speak in Finnish but ended up talking in English) and I was happy to get to hear Orianna’s lecture on “wearing garb” . The feast was very enjoyable and altogether the event proved to be great relaxation ^_^ In the evening we gave Kristiina a ride home and then returned to Tampere.

Sun was pretty quiet and I was already feeling somewhat tired. I guess I should’ve seen it coming — now I’ve spent the beginning of the week on sick leave. Not so great since there’s heaps of work to be done and we’ve had other people out of office, too. Last night I was feeling so well that Dugi and I went for a walk. The weather was nice for a change and when we returned home we noticed that the asphalt on the house yard had become a medium for wonderful art: kids had drawn and written things on it with coal. It made me happy.

Now I’m at work with the swamp ahead of me again, and our e-mail server is down. Naturally the files I need are in the e-mail… (that’s why I’m writing now). Oh well. Back to praying and waving chicken bones in front of the monitor now O.o

The swamp that I call my work has cleared up some and it seems that I might actually be able to start my weekend sometime soon. Nonetheless, I feel like I had done 2-3 days worth of work during a day. Perhaps I did. I’m tired.

On a not-very-related note, six minutes of Jocelyn Pook’s Masked Ball is… a bliss. It’s as beautiful and longer than the version on Eyes Wide Shut soundtrack (actually the main reason for buying the soundtrack in the first place).

I just called Dugi and he told me he’s been preparing the heraldry lecture we’re giving tomorrow at an SCA event. Thank goodness someone’s preparing ^_^ Really, I feel so much better knowing that he’s taking care of our tail even if I feel too exhausted. Well, he’s the expert of the two of us, anyway, but I hope I’ll be able to do my bit.

Ho hum ho hum I wanna go home already.

The cooking session last night was a success. The food was great, company excellent and we even had a magic performance as entertainment. The menu consisted of pike with spicy ale sauce, delicious beef sauce with rice and honey&rosemary carrots, and as dessert spice cakes. I was feeling really tired after the hectic workday but it was so good seeing my friends! The board meeting was rather painless, too ^_^

Today I’ve been working quickly to get everything done before our team dumps the office and heads for Salud - my favourite restaurant in Tampere. Life is good. We’re celebrating the graduation of two in our team, me being one. Even if I’m still waiting for my diploma to arrive in the mail. (I was warned that it might take a bit longer than the usual week since I’m the first one to graduate from this particular master’s programme in the faculty of social sciences.)

On other news, I’m expecting my Firefly and Monty Python and the Holy Grail (check out those extras!) DVDs and Gack’t Love Letter to arrive next week. Goody!

The SCA happening Talvi-ilta was great. Dugi and I could only go for Sat instead of the whole weekend but it was well worth it. The food was fabulous and our friend Murre was there - he works in Brussels and had sworn everyone to secrecy about his holiday in Finland just to surprise Dugi ^_^

I was dead tired on Sun and had a cleaning fit yesterday. So, no gradu done, but at least the circumstances should be optimal for some true stress writing tomorrow and the day after. Deadline, you see.

On Fri I’ll be working again - like today - and we’ll be in Helsinki for the weekend. Should do some shopping, meet relatives and visit the Game On exhibition while there’s still a chance, it closes on Sun! Talk about last-minute…

Haven’t had the energy to read anything apart form some articles for the gradu. Did watch Poltergeist (B) on tv, it’s still surprisingly disturbing after over two decades.
