Been driven nuts by not being able to blog. You might have noticed that my regular blog is currently off-line due to security issues. Damn server crackers, choke on your spit.

I hope I get to return to the primary Innerface soon (eventually would do, too) but until that and if there are more problems my musings will appear here.

Serveri oli alhaalla tuntikausia, ja ehdin jo huolestuneena miettiä, onko jotain ehkä ihan oikeasti kadonnut. Vaan ei onneksi ole ^_^

Päivitin tänään Masqueraden taittoa ja lisäsin vähän uutta sisältöäkin (ilmoitelkaahan mahdollisista ulkonäkö-, linkitys- yms. ongelmista!). Ihan hyvä, koska lopunkin materiaalin siirtäminen yliopiston serveriltä tälle, jolla bloginikin sijaitsee, on syytä toteuttaa lähiaikoina.

Still no server connection after it dropped yesterday afternoon. Just “network error: connection timeout” haunting my e-mail and IRC withdrawal symptom ridden existence.

The strings on Voyage to AVALON (Orchestra version) are amazing. And there’s not a song where the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir wouldn’t sound great. Avalon soundtrack was so worth every yen. (Even if almost all text on the CD booklet is in Japanese.)

The third season of America’s Next Top Model has proved disappointing. Just yesterday I watched the wanna-be models making asses of themselves in Japan. My brain hurt. American Idol still keeps me entertained and I’m spoiling myself blind at Foxes on Idol (Yippee, Constantine is still in!) Gods, how come all that’s on tv nowadays is such shit? Angel’s still on but it got the axe just like Firefly and Farscape. I want Six Feet Under and West Wing back from the break, thanks. And Lost and Carnivàle on. *sigh* I’m getting those damn DVDs.

I’m planning to go see Constantine (even if it does have Keanu Reeves in it and I’m refusing to accept it as a comic adaptation) and The Merchant of Venice in the movies. You know, sometime before my Finnkino tickets expire. Nyaah, I want Sin City.

On good news, my payment slip had a double-the-usual figure on the net amount row due to incentive wages. It will cover both our wedding outfits and more! ^_^ Hmm, Carnivàle DVD…

Dug up some links since I was bored:

It just turned out I have to move my next week’s two-day-holiday by at least a day. Damn maintenance job, so hard to plan ahead. Have to cheer myself up with Firefox no longer trashing my layout.

A.C. commented on using a larger text size and I did a bit of testing with that. I was surprised to note how differently IE and FF handle it! With IE increasing browser text size widens the left and right column and increases the size of the main entry text. With FF all text size is increased (not just the entry text) and the side columns widen a bit and move upwards, on top of the lower part of the heading box. Jolly nice.

Nice thing about standards is there’s so many to choose from.

don’t know who said it first but it’s oh so true…

Yeah. Well, at least the site is readable with both IE and FF. And I can always console myself with it being valid XHTML 1.0 transitional. Even if the damn browsers wouldn’t fully support it O.o

Hopefully this will be the last of the meta postings for now ^_^

So now there are two menus. On the left side I put stuff about me and links. On the right side is the stuff related to this journal: the calendar of postings, recent comments, archives, categories and search. Ok, so you can see this all if you bother to look through the menus, but at least you can’t say the info wouldn’t have been available O.o

I’ve been planning to make a little listing of recently read books (queen of wishful thinking!) on the menu for quite a while: “lately assimilated” will list books I’ve entertained myself with lately. The date is for me to remember when I finished reading the book and it’s linked to my posting of the experience if I’ve written one. Point systems are silly but I put one up anyway. 1-3 stars it is, to give a general idea of how I felt about it:

* - boring, dull, stupid or otherwise a waste of time
** - fun for a time, somewhat amusing, there were interesting bits
*** - good, thought-provoking and/or fun; would do it again

“Funnies on a whim” still has links to sites I found interesting in an entertaining way. The rest of the links are blogs.

Hah, I finally got around to listing the five most recent comments on the right hand side menu. Let me know if there are any problems.

I’ve been having some spam landing in so I closed most of the the old entries so that they can no longer be commented on. The recent entries can still be commented and I’ll close more of them only if the problem continues. Mostly my spam filters take care of this but “luckily” also the spam bots keep getting smarter and try to go around filters and blocks. Cute.
