I was inspired by Robert’s Ophelia sighting competition to make my own airship pic. Not a competition entry for sure, but there it is now, at the top of the page. The airship is Ophelia and the rest of the pic is by me. (I’m particularly happy with the cloud.)

The actual, brilliant entries can be seen here. These got my votes: most beautiful (runner-ups one, two, three) and most funny (runner-ups one, two, three) plus an honorary mention.

Anttilan levyalesta löytyi kivaa halvalla: Apocalyptican Reflections, Faithlessin parhaiden kokoelma Forever Faithless ja Sugababesin Taller in More Ways. Näiden lisäksi Dugi hemmotteli minua Veeti & The Velvetsin All About -kokoelmalla, joka sisältää paitsi tämän nerokkaan a cappella -kokoonpanon kaiken julkaistun materiaalin myös valikoiman live-esiintymisiä! *happy*

Viimeksi mainitun Brother Rap and Sister Soul, ‘62 Cadillac, Once I Had a Heart ja muut soundit veivät minut ajassa taaksepäin lukiovuosien ystävieni Tean ja Eijan luokse. Veetihän on Raahen oma poika, jonka Elastic Familya kuulin livenä kotomaisemissa, ja Tealla oli Velvetsien Brother Rap and Sister Soul -älppäri. Onnistuisikohan nuoruudenystävieni nykyisten yhteystietojen metsästys…

And now for something completely different: duunin SSH2-gateway korjaantui tänään! Vieroitusoireet helpottivat kummasti. Lisäksi olen päivittänyt Innerfaceen merkinnät huhti-heinäkuulta 2005, kommentteineen (jotka siis siksi kummittelevat tuossa “recent comments”-listassa).

My old blog that was shut down due to security problems will never return, but dear Killeri exported its data from the db yesterday and I’ll be updating it here when I have the time. I’ve now completed August and July 2005 and will continue working backwards.

Now, when I add the old comments, they come up on the “Recent Comments”-list on the right despite having the 2005 date on them, sorry about that.

I’m so happy that the contents of the blog could be salvaged!

There was something buggy going on with the commenting but after some tweaking and hassle they seem to work again. When you leave a comment, please remember to write the red numbers in the box next to them before pressing “Say it”.

It seems that there’s something wrong with Blogsome regarding commenting. Currently comments don’t get through at all. A couple of people had already reported the problem on Blogsome forums so it’s not just my blog that’s buggy. (I reckon it probably has something to do with the new spam catcher Blogger just took into use.) I’ll let you know when the problem is fixed.

If you try to comment you’ll know the problem is still there if when sending the comment you get a page with an error message or a description of a problem. If you instead are redirected to the page of the post you were commenting, everything’s ok. If in the latter case you don’t see your comment, it’s likely fallen into the moderation queue and will appear once I moderate it accepted.

[Edit 14:00]
Commenting seems to work again.

I noticed that my RSS feeds have the wrong time for the postings and tried to correct it with a solution provided int the Blogsome official forum. The result: I managed to crap my layout but the problem wasn’t solved. So, if you’re reading this using the RSS feed, the actual posting time is two hours later than it seems (so, 11:36 a.m. for this post).

I got the layout right again (at least to my browsers and eye) but noticed that the add that Blogsome places on the page isn’t XHTML standard compatible. Small problem but causes it to be impossible to validate my CSS since it just says I should validate the XHTML first and I can’t do anything about the Blogsome add problem.

I want my pieni.net blog back! (Although it seems that will never happen.) *Annoyed*

With a little help from a friendly grouse, a Livejournal syndicate feed was created and can be reached at Moiranen. Thanks, darl! This little thing should make it possible to follow Innerface via the friends page of a LJ. Added the link Under “Meta” at the right hand navigation section.

Please note the following, though:

Once you have created a new syndicated account, it may take up to several days for posts to begin appearing. If you have added it to your Friends list, there will typically be a large number of entries that appear at once on your Friends page. This is a one-time effect upon account creation.

I’m using Firefox. I can just hear Dugi laughing for I’ve been voicing my disgust and unwillingness to change browsers for quite a while whereas he’s been more than willing to share every new thing he learns to do with his toy. I’m the proverbial old dog in my stance against change. Mostly because things become quite automatical after I’ve once learned them and then it’s such a pain to learn them differently. Like pressing Ctrl-L instead of Ctrl-O to be able to write the URL in the browser. Or the moves my mouse has to make to reach Google (with IE).

I changed my mind because a couple of blogs have this annoying layout problem when viewing them with IE: the side column drops beneath the main column with the posts instead of being, well, on the side (or vice-versa). It popped into my head to try the pages with Firefox and lo, they looked just right. Crappety crap. Then I noticed that in Firefox one can add bookmarks to an additional Bookmark Toolbar: in the future I’ll only have to open the browser and press a button to get to one of the sites I use frequently. What an asset to someone so efficiency oriented as I tend to be.

There’s a but, though, and the main reason why I haven’t switched to Firefox before. You see, some of the web based software we use at work requires IE. I know, it sucks. I also know that I dislike using two browsers, especially with different keyboard shortcuts. And there’s the nuisance of Firefox having a higher interface above the browsing window. I’ve always hated that in a browser, I want to have as much of the web page showing (vertically) as possible.

Still, I think I’ll learn to use Firefox now. Pros outweigh the cons. Feel free to say “I told you so”, baby.

Prkl.

Tietenkin just nyt ennen häitä.

[Lisäys 13:40]
Moira-osoitteeni filtteröinti on viimein päivittynyt pois päältä eli mailin pitäisi jälleen kulkea siihenkin osoitteeseen. Odotan jännityksellä milloin (jos koskaan) saan tässä välissä junnaamaan jäänet mailit O.o

Been continuing tweaking the layout and functionality of the blog. I still can’t reach the files of the regular (currently offline) Innerface so have to re-do everything. Otherwise I could’ve just copy-pasted the old files here, I suppose. (Edited 16:40: I couldn’t have since here I can’t use PHP but have to use smart-tags instead.)

Anyway, Blogsome is using a newer version of Wordpress and it has this annoying bug feature that when you set the number of posts that are shown on the main page the same restriction applies to monthly archives, too (previously it showed all posts made during that month). So one has to put these “Older Posts” and “Newer Posts” links to the bottom of the page.

Well, they don’t work in the monthly archive. The link “Older Posts” from the first archive page just gives an error message. This feature bug has been reported to Blogsome but currently there’s no solution. (And I’m not sure if the bug is with Blogsome or with Wordpress itself.)

So, if you want to view older posts, after the first archive page please use the calendar links for now.

As a Blogsome-bonus I can’t figure out how to show the comments with the post on the main page like I prefer. Man I’m spoiled by being able to tweak the layout as I like, without the Blogsome smart-tag restrictions O.o

I want my old blog back. Goddamn crackers.
